Our Little Garden

This morning the kids went out to play and both came in yelling at me that there was a little surprise for me. I went out to discover our first rose on one of our rose bushes. Emma loved that it was pink!

Emma just made the connection that her middle name is Rose, like the flower. She told me that all roses are hers now, cause of her name. I thought it was cute.

We (Kendall) have been working a lot in the garden. We are enjoying fresh peas, lettuce, and strawberries. At the rate the garden is expanding we won't have any grass left in the back yard.

Noah was so very excited to discover the radishes are all ready to harvest. He washed these two off and cut then up. After he and Emma tasted them they said they were "super spicy". They did eat them all though. Last night I saw Emma with a cup and she was eating whatever was in it. Then as she got closer I could smell what was in it....oregano! She was eating oregano and with every bite she would say "mmmmm, spicy!" Crazy girl!!

Saturday we found we had a little visitor, a cute little gardener snake. The kids were so excited.
Noah was trying to help it find the hole in the fence so it could go out into the field behind our house.

Man's Work

Kendall is teaching Noah how to change the oil in our car. Daniel wanted in on it too! Aren't they cute!

Exploding Potatoes

I had a guy friend years ago that said he bought a bag of potatoes and went home and decided to be "domestic" and baked the whole bag of potatoes. Well he didn't know you had to poke them before putting them in the oven to bake. He said they all exploded in the oven. He then went back to the store and demanded his money back, cause they were "defective" of coarse. He actually got his money back! Anyway, I have heard of potatoes exploding in the oven, but never seen one explode, that is until today! I had all three kids climbing on me when preparing the potatoes for the oven and missed one. My whole house smells like burned potatoes! I guess it's time to clean the oven!

Birthday Surprise

I have to say my husband is the best EVER!! Yesterday was my birthday, I turned 29yrs old (this is my 3rd 29th birthday). I had just planned to have a nice quiet birthday with the kids and then celebrate as a family when Kendall got off work. I had even been asked to watch my friend's little girl for a while. So Kendall got up to "go to work" and I went back to sleep. Kendall peaked into the room a while later and I was thinking it was a little lighter outside then it should be, maybe he missed the bus. But he didn't, he had made crepes with fresh strawberries and blueberries, and yogurt! He had even put a pretty flower on the plate to make it look beautiful! It was so sweet, I've never had breakfast in bed before! It was a wonderful surprise!! The next best surprise was when he told me he had taken the day off work. If you know Kendall, you know what a big thing this is, cause he NEVER takes a day off work, unless he is physically unable to get out of bed sick! He has been working so much over time lately so I was excited to spend a nice quiet day with the family. He got the kids up and gave them breakfast and we got them dressed. Then he said okay everyone into the car. He had gotten a friend to watch the kids all day! He even had everything packed and in the car! I didn't have to do anything! Now I was really curious about what he had up his sleeve! We dropped the kids off and headed to Seattle to a place called Theo's Chocolate Factory! They are a local organic chocolate factory. I have been wanting to go on a tour ever since I learned they exsisted.
The tour was so great! I learned a lot too! I highly recommend it! Just to let you know though, they give you a TON of chocolate along the tour, tons of samples! Just don't eat a lot of chocolate for a few days before you go on the tour, as you wouldn't want to be tired of chocolate before you even get there (if that's possible). There are only a few companies that actually make chocolate in the world and even less that make it organically. It was really interesting to see how they take these cocoa beans and turn them into something yummy! After the tour Kendall and I sampled some more chocolate and then Kendall told me to pick out as much chocolate as I wanted!
After the tour we went to a little Mexican place by the water for lunch. I was sitting there eating and I made the comment that the water looked fun and that it would be fun to go out on the water. Kendall then told me that we were going to rent a kayak and spend the afternoon on the water. There was an arboretum about a mile down the canal. So after lunch we headed down to the water to pick up our boat.

I have always wanted to try kayaking, and was so excited to get the chance. It was so much fun! There were so many animals out! We saw some turtles but every time we got the camera out they would hurry away!

My wonderful husband!

A cute little duckling. There were lots of little baby ducks, and they would swim really close to the boat!

I am not sure what kind of bird this is, but it was really cool looking!

There were lots of little places were we could pull our kayak up onto the land and just walk around and enjoy the park. It was so wonderful to just spend the day with Kendall and talk and hold hands, just be a couple in love.
We headed for home around 3:30 and picked up the kids. We got home and I made dinner and Emma helped me make a birthday cake. The kids each made a card for me too. Kendall got me some glass bread pans that I have been wanting for a while. So it was a wonderful birthday! I am so lucky to have such great friends who are willing to take care of my kids so I could get spoiled on my birthday, and a husband who spoils me! It was such a great surprise!

Preschool Party

This last week we had our end of the year preschool party. It was a beautiful warm day and the kids had a lot of fun jumping in the bouncy castle, swimming, and eating.
The kids had fun bouncing and sliding, but I think they had even more fun jumping on it to get the air out at the end!

I thought this was a cute picture of Tanner and Login. They are best buds and you can't separate them...EVER! (Trust me I've tried!)

I found Mason and Daniel sitting together in the grass. Mason had Daniel covered in grass.

Daniel wasn't quite sure what to think about it!

Emma was so scared of the water! She finally got up the nerve to get on this board, but freaked out every time someone came near her.

Here are the kids having a great time in the pool!

Randomness

The kids all wanted me to take their pictures so I willingly cooperated.

You might be wondering what happened to Daniel's face...it's the result of falling head first off the couch into a pile of Lego's. It looks better then it did yesterday! He seems to always fall on that side of his face.

My boys!

Kid Dates

This weekend we started a new tradition in our family, we call it the "kid date". Last night Noah and Kendall went out for a hike near the airport. They had fun and even saw a rabbit on the trail. Today was Emma's turn for a date with Kendall. They are going shopping for birthday presents. Emma wanted me to do her hair all cute for her date with daddy. She wanted four buns cause she is four years old.
Here is Emma getting ready to leave on her date. She is so cute!
Here are her four buns. Next weekend is my weekend for kid dates. I can't wait!
