Jane Elizabeth

Jane Elizabeth was born at home on June 20th at 9:39pm. She weighed 8lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long. She was 9 days late. I finally decided that I was not going to go into labor on my own so I had the midwife come break my water to get labor to start. My midwife, Charlotte, came over in the morning and broke my water and nothing happened! No contractions at all! Around noon I started to have a few contractions, but then she had me lay down so they would stop cause she got a call from another mom who was in labor. So she left for that birth and left me with a couple of her assistants, who were amazing! We had a great time chatting and hanging out all afternoon. When Charlotte got back around 6pm we tried to get contractions to start up again. Nothing was happening so they decided to go for a walk and told us to call them if anything started. Funny thing is, as soon as they left at 8pm the contractions started. (It's like the phrase, "a watched pot never boils.") Kendall called Charlotte back and Jane was born soon after they got back. It was a fast intense labor and I was so happy when it was over!
The kids came in right after she was born and met their new little sister. They all fell in love with her instantly!
She is a really good baby and doesn't cry very much at all. We are so happy to have her in our family!

Bulldozer VS 2 yr old

This is a common sight these days. The lovely field behind our house has been sold and a large apartment complex is going in. There have been lots of different tractors busy tearing up the grass and making large piles of dirt. The kids love to stand at the window and watch them work. Funny thing happened today. Kendall said he was out watering the plants in the green house out back and Jacob was with him. Well Jacob had gotten his hands on the hose and managed to turn the setting to "jet stream". Kendall said he heard someone laughing really hard in the field and came out to see the man up on the hill laughing and another guy in a bulldozer (who was not laughing). Turns out Jacob was spraying at the back fence and over the fence when the guy in the bulldozer drove by just in time to get a direct hit with the hose. The guy in the other tractor was up high enough to see that it was a little 2yr old doing the spraying and thought it was funny. The other guy took it well once he climbed out of his bulldozer and could see who was doing the spraying. Kendall lifted Jacob up to wave to the man and it all ended well. I think they will be a little more careful when passing our yard.

A Fish Tale

Kendall took the kids fishing at Twin Lakes this afternoon. The kids weren't super excited about fishing at these lakes cause they've never had much luck fishing there. Well today Noah came running into the house super excited. It was a group effort to catch this big boy! It was caught using Emma's fishing pole. Noah reeled it in, but it was so big it broke the line but Kendall saved the day by wading into the water with the net and scooped it up just in time! It was 23 inches long and over 6 1/2 pounds! Biggest fish caught so far! Noah gutted it and it's on the grill right now being cooked up for dinner. Kids think they should be allowed to fish everyday so we can have a free meal at least once a day.

Emma's Baptism

This last Saturday Emma was baptized! She was super excited about this day.
Her good friend Ivan was also baptized that same morning.
Here is Emma in her dress my mom made for her. She looked so cute. Everything went so well. We had a lunch after the baptism with all our friends. After the lunch Jacob decided to jump off the stage in the gym and land on his head. That was sure scary! We headed off to the doctor and thank heavens there were no broken bones, but he has a big bump on the back of his head and a concussion. Have to keep an eye on him for a little while and make sure he doesn't hit his head again before it heals. That boy is an accident waiting to happen. Just today he burned his leg on the lawn mower and cut his finger with a knife! Oh, and he just jumped in front of Daniel's bike and now has a purple goose egg on the front of his head. I think we are going to put him in a padded room!

Emma Rose Turns 8!

Yesterday Emma turned 8 yrs old! Boy have the years gone by fast! My mom came and took her out to lunch and did a little shoe shopping. They had a great time out.
She requested chicken pot pie for her birthday dinner and we had my mom and brother Joshua over to help celebrate her day.
It is our family tradition to get the kids their very own set of scriptures for their 8th birthday and she was super excited to receive her own set with a purple case to go with them.
My mom made her a butterfly cake with Jelly Bellies.
She is super excited about her baptism next weekend. Her friend Ivan will be getting baptized the same day and we have family coming into town to celebrate with us. Just hoping little Jane doesn't decide to crash the party that day with her arrival. :)

Fishing

We took the kids fishing this morning for the 1st time. One of the local parks was having a big kids fishing event and we decided to try it out. I was pretty worried when we got to the pond and saw how many people were around the pond fishing. There we A LOT of people there! Emma was the 1st to catch a fish and she was sooooo excited! The look on her face was priceless!
Daniel caught a fish and lost it as we were trying to get it in the bag. But he took it well and cast out and caught another fish right away.
Noah was the lucky one and caught 2 fish pretty quick! You can kinda see in the back ground all the people surrounding this pond. There were several times where the kid's lines got tangled up with others, but it wasn't to bad. I think we will be going back to this pond soon to fish. Thank goodness for Kendall who is willing to gut the fish, cause right now I'm a little squeamish about that kind of thing! The fish are on the grill being cooked up for lunch. Fun times!
