Noah's 1st Pinewood Derby

Tonight Noah received his bobcat badge for cub scouts and is working hard to earn his wolf badge.

It was also his 1st pinewood derby race. He work really hard on his car and was really excited about tonight. All his hard work paid off and he received 1st place in the race! I was so proud of him. He was so serious when he went up to get the award and everyone kept saying "smile, you won!" I think he was more excited about making the car then racing it. He would spend hours sanding it till it was the perfect smoothness.

Here he is receiving his award.

Here he is with his car and award.

They had every car race against every car so Noah's car raced 12 different times. This is the video of his car racing for the 1st time. He was so cute!

Family Night Fun!

Tonight we had our family home evening. Kendall was in charge of the family activity, but was having a hard time thinking of something to do so I yelled out "Lets play tickle Daddy!" Before he knew what was happening all three kids jumped on him and the playing began! I don't know what he is going to do when there are 4 little ones piling on him!

The kids were having so much fun and I had a great laugh!

Then Kendall had enough and started fighting back!

He's got two down but Emma's still in this thing!

But in the end Kendall still came out on top! After burning off some energy we made home made blueberry ice cream in the blender, yummy!

Daniel

I have a hard time getting Daniel to eat vegetables of any kind. But the boy LOVES his juice! So everyday I try to make juice. Today I made spinach, carrot, apple juice. He would drink his cup full and then shout "MORE!" The boy would drink gallons of this stuff if I made that much.

He does get a bit messy while drinking it though! I figured he is two years old, he shouldn't need to drink out of a sippy cup any more. It's just more clean up for me till he gets it down without spilling it everywhere.

Yummy!

Daniel has also inherited his daddy's love of air planes. He discovered all Kendall's airplane books on the bottom shelf in the living room this week and he will spend hours at a time looking through them. It's really very cute. He gets a very intense look on his face while thumbing through each book. It's like he's trying to memorise each plane.

Tulips and Mud Puddles

Today was a beautiful warm day! We had my niece, Emily, up for the weekend and thought it would be a perfect day to go see the tulip fields. We have done this every year since moving up to Washington. The kids had so much fun running along the paths between the fields. But we weren't sure which they liked more...

the fields of beautiful flowers or....

The big puddles of MUD!

I think they spent more time playing with the mud then they did looking at flowers!

I did manage to get some pictures of them with the flowers. Daniel wasn't too cooperative today when it came to getting pictures.

Daniel's favorite flowers were the purple tulips.

Emma liked all the different colors of tulips, but pink is by far her favorite.

This is the closest thing I could get to a smile from Daniel. When ever I tell him to smile he scrunches up his nose and scowls (as you can clearly see in the next picture).

Daniel and Emma.

I really like this one of Emma and Emily. They are so funny together. Emily is once again in Emma's clothes so Kendall and I kept calling Emily Emma.

On the way out of the fields Noah spotted this tree and just had to climb it!

Easter 2010

The kids had a fun Easter this year. We went to my mom's house and had an Easter egg hunt, ate yummy food and just had a good time visiting. My sister Jessica and brother Joshua came too. The kids always have a fun time with Emily!

Daniel discovered there was candy in the eggs and decided that he had to open each egg as soon as he found it, then open the candy and eat it right on the spot!

Emma pauses her search for a moment so I could take a picture.

This was the best picture I could get of all four kids. Daniel is all boy and wouldn't put this toy down!

We decorated eggs on Saturday and Daniel must have eaten 2 or 3 of them before they were done!

I heard that if you put a little oil in the dye it would make a marbling effect on the eggs. They did turn out really cool, but man what a mess!!!

Strange jelly belly flavors

We were at Costco the other day and of course we were all munching on samples. Noah was trying out the Jelly Belly's. He would pop one into his mouth and then tell us what the flavors were. He popped one in his mouth and said, "Oh, this one tastes like laundry detergent!". I looked at him and laughed and asked him when he has eaten laundry detergent! He reassured me that he has never EATEN laundry detergent but that the taste of that jelly bean tastes like the smell of the laundry detergent...therefore laundry detergent must taste like that jelly bean. My kids are always making my smile!

My son Noah who is 8 yrs old has become very interested in knives, all kinds of knives, but there is one kind in particular that has really caught his attention... the Swiss Army pocket knife. My husband also has a love for knives. The other day Kendall took Noah into a knife shop and Noah saw a Swiss Army knife and wanted it more than anything! Kendall told him it's $30. He said that if he does all his chores and saved his money he could buy it. I wasn't so sure how I felt about this...but now I LOVE the idea! We do a bingo chart for chores, for every chore they do, they get to put a little star in that spot. For every bingo they get they get a bingo dollar. A bingo dollar is worth a quarter. So the last few days my son has been working hard, he spends all day cleaning and doing chores (He even does all his school work quickly). I haven't had to load or unload the dishwasher in days. He vacuums the whole house, cleans the bathroom, his bedroom is spotless, as is his sister's bedroom! He sweeps the kitchen floor, brings in the laundry, sets and clears the table before and after each meal! Life is good! This morning he got up and made scrambled eggs and toast for us, so he could put a star on the "kind deed" spot of his bingo chart! I'm trying to figure out what I can get him interested in after he saves up for this pocket knife.....maybe something less sharp!
