FHE Picnic

Monday we decided to have family home evening outside at a park close by our house. There are a couple of lakes for the kids to play by and we had a little picnic and just let the kids enjoy the warm sunshine! We all had a wonderful time. Daniel wouldn't leave the blanket we brought as he didn't like the feel of the grass, but found plenty to keep himself entertained.
The kids had a hard time eating as they wanted to play the whole time!

Noah and Emma watching the ducks in the lake.

Daniel being his happy self! About the marks on his face...he has had 3 run ins with the steps on our porch in the last two days! The first time Emma lured him out while I wasn't looking and he fell the two steps down, the second time it happened Emma left the back door open and he stepped out and fell and the third time happened when he was pushing a little shopping cart and got going to fast.

Yesterday was kind of a sad day for Kendall. It was a day we knew was coming soon. A guy stopped by around noon yesterday while Kendall was at work. He had just moved here from Texas and was looking for a truck. His friend had seen our truck and noticed is never moved and wanted to know if we were thinking about selling it. Truth is, we have been thinking about selling it for a long time, but Kendall really liked having a truck...I think it's a man thing. I told him come back when Kendall was home and he did. We talked about it and decided on a fair price and sold the truck. So now we are a one car family again.

My Crazy Week

Just a quick update on Daniel. His pediatrician said that she has seen several cases of roseola, so keep an eye out for a rash. Well the rash has made its appearance. So it was roseola. Noah had it when he was a baby too.

This week has been kind of crazy. I was looking forward to this week, but it didn't turn out the way I had planned. My sister Jessica and her daughter Emily planned to be here on Wednesday for a visit. The kids were looking forward to time with their cousin. Jessica and I were going to do some shopping at the outlets. And I had 10-15 women coming to my house for book club Thursday night. So I spent Monday and Tuesday trying to get the house cleaned.
Well Daniel woke up from his nap Tuesday afternoon with a fever 104.5 and a runny nose. Gave him Tylenol and thought it was just really bad teething. Cleaning the house was put on hold as he would cry every time I put him down. Well he had the fever all the next day. My sister got here and the kids had a blast playing. Wednesday night Daniel still had a high fever 104.9, and his hands and feet were purple. So I decided to take him to the walk in clinic and just get him checked out. They did a chest x-ray, checked to see if he had the flu (which came back negative). They still couldn't figure out why his pulse-ox was low and so they said he needed to be sent to the hospital in Everett for observation. So they sent me straight to the hospital er.
I have never really been to the ER before....crazy place to spend the night! I got there with him at 9pm and got all set up for a very long night of no sleep for the both of us! He threw up all over the place when we got there. Then they said he was dehydrated (even though he had been drinking tons all day and kept it all down!). So they put an IV in him. I felt so bad for him...took 4 tries before they got it in. He had that nurses face memorized by the end...and whimpered every time she came in. At 3am they finally decided to admit him and we got out of the ER. Yea! His fever finally broke at 5am. He was able to eat breakfast in the morning and keep it all down. They said all the tests they ran came back just fine and said it was some kind of virus and let us go home about noon. He is doing much better now and is finally becoming himself again. I had to take him in to see his regular pediatrician today and she said he was fine. I just felt terrible that I my sister was left with the kids most of the time. Kendall did stay home yesterday and today as he also wasn't feeling very well. Emma has a stuffy nose and slept in our bed with me last night...which is a 1st. My kids never sleep in our bed. Kendall slept in her bed as he said he could still smell the paint in our room and it was keeping him up.(I just painted the walls in our room the week before.) So I was up all night again with her as every 10 minutes she would roll over and say "my noe is upped up". Jessica and I did get to go out shopping and had fun. I got a skirt and a new dress. I wasn't going to get the dress as it was kind of pricey, and told her to put it back for me (I am so cheap when it comes to spending money on myself). But she went and bought it and surprised me with it when we got home.

Emily loved Daniel and was always trying to feed him....he really liked her too. :)

Kendall said Emily and Emma looked like twins running around. Emily is 1 year older and they are both blond and about the same height. And both LOVE pink!

Emma and Emily got new sun glasses and had to get pictures with them, of course Noah had to get his glasses out too. It was nice to visit with my sister and I wish things had been different and we could have spent more time together, but we will get together again soon. So my week was crazy, but hopefully everything will calm down and we will have a "normal" quiet week next week.....we can only hope, right?

Daniel's 1st Haircut

I finally cut Daniel's hair, I have been meaning to do it for a while now. As you can see Daniel is NOT a fan of the whole hair cutting experience. I think he was more upset that I was trying to hold his head still then anything else. But it looks way better now with the sides short and not so long that it covers his ears.

Day to day life

I have been going through a blogging rut these days. Life has been busy but with nothing so exciting that it's worth writing about. Daniel is in full walking mode these days and it is so fun to watch him toddle around the house. He is still working on getting those same 4 teeth that he's been working on for a month now! I am beginning to think they will never come up. He is in the "stranger danger" phase of babyhood. If anyone walks into the room and even looks at him he freaks out! It's going to make having a babysitter really difficult. But I just think this too shall pass....

I had preschool at my house this week. It's always a wild time when the 3 boys and Emma get together for preschool. The boys are in their usual anti-girl mood. Poor Emma is the only girl. But she doesn't seem too upset by their attitudes. She is so shy! This morning I took the kids to the craft store and there was a little 3yr old girl there. She was so cute and asked her mom if she could say hi to Emma. So she came up to Emma and said hi and started trying to talk to her. Emma wouldn't even say hi or anything, she just ducked her head and wouldn't say a word! I guess she gets that from me, when I was young I was very very shy and probably acted the same way she does.

The kids are enjoying the sunshine today, it snowed on Sunday and Monday and it's been so cold that we still have snow in our front lawn which never sees the sun. Today though is beautiful and a "warm" 45 degrees. Kendall and Noah are working on a pinewood derby car for the ward activity. Noah sure enjoys getting out the power tools and working with his dad. He is a funny kid and I really enjoy him. It's hard to believe that he is already 7. This morning he was giggling so hard he was doubled over. When asked what he was laughing about he said he was thinking about all the tricks he was going to play on his Manna when she moves up here from California this summer. It involves spiders, so Manna beware!

So that's my week, nothing to exciting just kid crazy day to day life. Maybe something exciting will happen this week and I will have something fun to write about, but until then have a wonderful week!

Daniel is 1 year old!

Today my baby boy turns 1 year! This year has been a good one. Daniel is such a special little boy and I am so glad he is part of our family. He brings us such great joy! The other day someone asked Noah who he liked best- brother or sister, he said Daniel. Then a little later Emma was asked who she liked best- big brother or little brother, she said Daniel. So he is quite the favorite right now. We had a quiet evening with just our family to celebrate. He is starting to wrestle with Daddy, Noah and Emma, and is really getting the hang of the whole walking thing.
Daniel was more excited about the candle sitting on the cake then the cake itself! I had given him a taste of the frosting when I frosted the cake so he knew what to do with that cake when he got it!
Emma helped blow out the candle, and as you can see Daniel was a little confused about where the flame went!

He had no problem with his piece of cake!

Yummy!

After that cake it was time for the bath and a chance to play with his new toys!

Daniel opening his present. We figured he would have more fun with a bag than with wrapping paper.

Noah had to help him out a little.

I love his expression in this picture!

We got him some rubber ducks and frogs for the bath tub. He really enjoyed them!

Emma's Eating habits

Emma has been driving us crazy with her eating habits lately! There were two days in a row that she ate nothing last week! Kendall made an amazing stew last Sunday and she just turned her nose up at it and said she wanted to go to bed and not eat, so she went to bed at 5:45 that night. We have a rule that if you don't want to eat dinner then you don't have to, but you have to go to bed, and eat what was for dinner for breakfast the next morning. Also on that Sunday, she didn't want what we were having for lunch, so she had had breakfast in the morning but that was it for the day. Well the next morning, I heated up the stew and she didn't eat it, so I put it in the fridge for her to eat at lunch, again, didn't eat it for lunch so it went back in the fridge. I was getting worried as she hadn't eaten in almost 2 days! I was trying to think of something to make her eat that night at dinner. So I said we were going to have pizza for dinner and she was so excited, but I told her that she couldn't have it, till her stew was all gone. Well she did eat her stew that night, and liked it! This happens all the time these days! All she wants to eat are pot stickers, I know random, but that's all she wants! Here is Emma still fighting us on eating the stew.
